Eve and Isobel Grab & Go Crossbody Bag by Moments by Liz

Eve Collage
I was privileged to test both Eve and the Isobel Grab & Go Crossbody Bag for Moments Designs. Both are wonderful bags. I will start with Eve! This was the first time I used this much faux leather (vinyl) and I loved it. The fabric part of the exterior and all of the interior is a vintage cotton.

The pattern comes with either a top zipper version or a flap version. I made the top zipper version for the test, but just got in the hardware for the flap version. It also comes with directions and tips for using faux leather (vinyl).  The bag finishes to about 10.5" high x 14.5" wide x 5" deep. The handle drop is 11" (28" in length). It is a really nice sized shoulder bag. My test version secures with a top zip and has two divided slip pockets and one zipper pocket inside.

The pattern is excellently written, with clear photos and directions. I only printed the materials list, cutting instructions and the pattern pieces and then looked at the step by step directions on my computer. You can get your own Eve pattern on Craftsy here (or if you want to order one already made, you may contact me privately).

And now let's look at the Isobel Grab & Go Crossbody Bag:

Isobel Grab & Go Crossbody Bag Collage
This is the first bag I have made with a total faux leather (vinyl) exterior. I love this bag and am currently carrying my test version. I prefer a crossbody bag because I like having my hands free and because there is less strain on my old shoulders. Liz's design is wonderfully unique and the main exterior is all one piece that comes together at the diagonal zipper. The wrap around exterior pocket is also all one piece. I  made an adjustable strap that attached with rivets rather than the buckle that is in the pattern (due to hardware issues and time constraints during the testing phase). There is a large pocket under the front zipper that can hold an iPad or my tablet in its bulky case.

Isobel Grab & Go Crossbody Bag finishes to 11" high x 10" wide x 3" deep, making her a perfect sized bag to carry everyday. The interior is loaded with even more pockets that go all the way around inside!!! As with the Eve bag, the directions are excellently written and easy to follow. It is labeled as an advanced pattern and, once again, has faux leather (directions). You can order your own Isobel Grab & Go Crossbody Bag pattern here (or if you want to order one already made, you may contact me privately).

I thoroughly enjoyed testing both of these bags for Moments Designs and find Liz a delight to work with and look forward to testing whatever she designs in the future.

Until next time, may you sew with joy, stay healthy and be filled with God's awesome blessings!                                                                                                                                          Judith

Bag of the Month Club - May - Brooklyn by Swoon

I did my Brooklyn (pattern by Swoon) in vintage cotton fabric and vinyl. The vinyl was a bit thick and pushed my machine. This is a relatively quick sew and the pattern comes with two sizes. I made the handbag size (11" long x 7" tall x 5" deep) rather than the traveler size (16" long x 10" tall x 7" deep). This was the May pattern for the Jan-June 2016  Bag of the Month Club. The pattern also includes tips for using vinyl. This is a really cute bag with a bit of a retro feel. You can get your own pattern here.

The bag secures with an extra long zipper that opens really wide. The side clips add style. It has an interior zippered pocket. The pattern provides an option for a removable shoulder strap that I did not make for my version.

This is a fun little bag that holds a lot.
